Echoes Of Hope
An Australian Odyssey
Echoes Of Hope
Inspired by a real grave in Denison Town, NSW, Echoes of Hope: An Australian Odyssey tells the story of Joseph Bayliss, a man shattered by the loss of his wife and children. Fleeing the memories that haunt him, he wanders the Australian bush and returns to the river where his love story began. Through family, community, and the quiet persistence of grace, Joseph begins the long journey toward healing.
Though the narrative is fictional, it is anchored in the lives of real people — Hannah Bayliss, Grace Ann Bayliss, Stanley Ronald Bayliss, and the man named on the stone, J.F. Bayliss — whose grief and endurance shaped the emotional heart of this story. Their suffering was known only to God and time, and this novel seeks to honour the truth of that loss while imagining the journey of healing that might have followed.
Set against the rugged beauty of 19th‑century New South Wales, this is a story of heartbreak, resilience, faith, and the hope that still echoes in the quietest places.
